LEGO Events: Upcoming Conventions

Which LEGO Conventions?

Just paid for my BrickMagic registration this morning. I’m very excited about having this new convention, being organized by Joe Meno, only 4 hours away from me in Raleigh! BrickMagic will be Mother’s Day weekend.

Before that, coming up in mid-April is BrickSouth, a little-known convention that piggyback’s onto the First Lego League (FLL) World Festival that has been traditionally held in Atlanta. A few months ago it was announced that this would be the last FLL championship there (2011 will be in St. Louis), so I’m not sure what that will do for BrickCon in 2011. So, as a first time participant in BrickSouth, I go with mixed feelings.

Later this summer — mid June I’m hoping to hit BrickWorld as I did last year. Tentatively planning on taking my wife and a very-excited 8-year old son.

What LEGO Stuff on Display?

I’m hoping to have two displays: one for my sculpture/mosaic work and one for my web comic, The Brick Side. As far as what pieces I plan to display … well, they’re not all built, yet, so I can’t divulge that, yet. I may be taking a couple of my more popular pieces from last year, as well as some new stuff. The flu pretty much sapped my energy for the past couple weeks, but now that I’m mostly feeling better (I can tell because I woke up at 5 am today ;D) the energy is starting to synch with the creative juices.
